This Journal’s Pages Are Scribbled With Text In Goblin
After a nights rest in the Silver Stoat Inn we all met in the commissary for breakfast. The sausages we pretty good. As a group we all decided to head back to the alchemist’s shop to see if he had stocked any health potions or anything that may aid us in our endeavor. We were in luck because he had just finished a batch of health potions, and at Edan’s suggestion Billy and i purchased some alchemist’s fire, he had over heard Yuln in his sleep mention something about “kill them with fire”. After this we headed back out to the caravan site, seeing it again just brought bad memories of my past back to haunt me. As we continued further it seemed that the snow just kept getting thicker in the air and it made it tough to see. When we arrived back at the site of the log trap it seemed that a few trees had grew over night, which obviously cannot be possible. Ears hollered at the trees and they came to life… What kind of magics is this? They attacked us and even with my best effort I could not down one, they on the other hand… It’s embarrassing to even write this, but the trees knocked my clean out of my armor. If you ask him what happened after Billy and I were knocked out Edan would spin a tale of epic proportions and of how he was our savior. This may be true, and i am grateful for his aid. He also mentioned it was the Elf whom healed me with potions. Interesting.
With his assistance Edan and I find the path the raiders had been using and as we traveled down it the weather took a turn for the worse. The temperature seemed to plummet and Edan needed to rest. For what ever reason we built a small fortification out of snow around the base of some trees and started a fire to warm our selves by. Shortly after we settled in the Elf called out that she saw something in the distance. The hideous beast that had come upon us could only be described as a wyrm of some sort.
That is what the creature looked like. Between Billy and Edan they were able to cut down the first creature but there was a second one which not only took down Billy, It tryed to actually take him. We fought it off to the point of it running off but Edan had other plans for the beast as he launched his circle blade at it and cut it down. It was quite an amazing throw. I found a chest that had a load of gold and a couple of sticks in it. Who would keep sticks? The Elf seemed interested in them so i gave them to her. After that I dragged Billy back to our little fort to help warm him and get him aid. Edan told us a tale of his past while we rested and then Ears tapped Billy a few times with one of the sticks and his wounds seemed to close… Magics… But magics used for good.
As we trudged onward we came to a pass in the forest and were once again attacked. This time by magical creatures that looked like little balls of light. To my great annoyance i could not shoot them so i just powered forward. It seemed my companions had much better luck in felling three of the four creatures. As the weather again seemed to get worse, though at this point i doubt it could get worse then it is, we happened on some of Rokar’s raiders. While they argued over something i decided to sneak up and try to listen in, but they were just to far away and i was not able to distinguish what was being said. The Elf stepped from the shadows and demanded the raiders surrender and inform us as to where Rokar was, a bold move for someone so frail. Surprisingly it worked, all but one of the raiders seem to cower at her gaze. One shouted out, “Rokar’s at the lodge!” and the one that was not intimidated by Elsa growled at the man to shut up. In an attempt to Aid her in her attempt to soften them up I fired at the strong willed raider, but i missed. This caused us to enter in to full combat with the raiders. After another shot that just grazed the man I decided to holster my pistol and drew my finely crafted axe that I found in the chest yesterday. A short while later all four men were at our feet dead.
The lodge that the raider was talking about was the Lodge of the High Sentinels, the guardians of this forest. If the raiders are holed up there I wonder what happened to the Sentinels? The lodge is not far from here, but first we rested and warmed ourselves by the bandits fire. After some time we came to the clearing with the lodge in it. I was appalled at the sight and answer to my question. Blood was everywhere, covering the snow, the walls, the windows, everywhere. The raiders killed the wards of the forest. Senseless violence, more horrors of the past I left behind. We decided to make camp before investigating further. I chose to take first watch as I was not wanting to sleep.
